After all for rsync the target is just something in the local filesystem, so if it will execute the delta algorithm it will read in the whole remote file in order to calculate its deltas, then change it in RAM and write the whole remote file back. (I.e. this would mean even 2 times transferring the whole file!).<br /> <br /> In order to do something more clever rsync would have to recognize the mount is a sshfs mount, get the login data somehow and communicate with a remote rsync process in order to do the delta-ing. I doubt such a thing is implemented though.<br /> Unfortunately, I have no solution to this problem either (expect going back to rsync/rsnapshot directly which is probably not what you want)<br /> <br /> Btw.: See my homepage for some other tools i took a quick look at (i'm still searching for a really good one for my usecase though).
